A Wardian Case Terrarium is not just another terrarium; it’s a true terrarium, staying true to the original concept as invented 250 years ago by Dr. Nathaniel Bagshaw Ward. The name comes from its inventor, Dr. Nathaniel Bagshaw Ward. These terrariums can be any size, including large terrariums that have more room for more plant life.

What’s Our Innovation on Closed Terrariums?

We’ve made over 1,000 terrariums in the past year and used our first version of Wardian cases which required us to spray water every 3 days. Now with our second version, no watering is needed at all. This new version allows you to fully seal the intricate geometric glass container, creating self sustaining ecosystems. It’s a low maintenance solution that took many sleepless nights to perfect but we finally have our foolproof large closed terrarium kit.

If you travel a lot, a terrarium is a great alternative to an open plant. You won’t have to worry about it dying while you’re away. Your terrarium will be waiting for you alive and thriving when you get back.

What if a plant outgrows?

You can either trim the plant or let it outgrow. We consider our terrariums as experiments, so we let them grow freely. This is especially true for large plant terrariums, where there’s more room for plants to grow.

My terrarium is foggy. What do I do?

Fog is normal and means your terrarium is alive. The fog is condensation, basically rain in your ecosystem. If you want less fog, try moving it to a less sunny spot or open the door for 15 minutes to let some water evaporate.

How often should I water it?

Closed terrariums retain the water inside. You don’t need to water your terrarium for a long time after you seal it.

Is it safe?

Yes, our materials are kid, teen and adult friendly. We care about our materials and our jars are lead free.

Also, we try to use eco-friendly materials in our packaging. We aim to minimize plastic use as much as possible in the near future.

How does the terrarium bring the outdoors inside?

Our terrariums bring the outdoors inside by creating a miniature world that mimics a natural ecosystem. This self sustaining closed terrarium is an indoor ecosystem where you can enjoy the beauty and earthiness of nature in your living space. Perfect for nature lovers and those who want to create a unique indoor natural environment.
