Closed terrarium kit

FAQ

We answer to most common questions about our containers
Do I need to water my closed terrarium? Plus

Closed terrariums are self-contained and rarely need watering. If the soil is dry, add a little water but be careful not to overwater.

What kind of plants can I use in a closed terrarium? Plus

Moss, ferns, and small tropicals are ideal for closed terrariums. Don’t use plants that need dry conditions.

What kind of plants can I NOT use in a closed terrarium? Plus

Succulents and air plants are not suitable for closed terrariums as they do not thrive in constant moisture. In my experience, they tend to die in such environments. Instead, prefer tropical plants that love moisture, such as mosses, ferns, and small tropical plants.

How do I prevent mold in my terrarium? Plus

Make sure you have drainage layers, including a bit of potting soil and activated charcoal, to prevent mold. Don’t overwater and open the lid for a few minutes every now and then to air out the terrarium. Check our terrarium guide here

Can I put animals in my closed terrarium container? Plus

Our closed terrarium containers are for plants only and not for animals. But you can put isopods and springtails inside.

How often should I clean my closed terrarium? Plus

Clean the glass as needed to keep it clear. If you see mold or algae, clean the inside and adjust watering.

Do the terrariums come with plants and soil? Plus

Our closed terrarium containers are sold separately from plants and soil so you can customize your mini garden. We do offer complete terrarium kits that include everything, and you can also choose from glass terrariums and open terrariums as part of these kits.

Can I use my closed terrarium outside? Plus

Yes you can use our containers indoor and outdoors as well, but please keep in mind that closed terrariums usually need indirect sunlight.
