Your instructor will help simplify complex ideas into a design that's achievable and visually effective, including choosing beginner-friendly patterns with instructor help.
Before you start tufting, your instructor will walk you through the fundamentals, including how to safely operate the tufting machine, properly stretch the backing fabric, handle the yarn, and control the machine with confidence. You'll also learn important safety guidelines and the essential tufting techniques you'll use throughout the workshop.
Once you're comfortable with the basics, you'll begin creating your rug section by section with guidance from your instructor. Along the way, you'll learn how to create smooth curves, clean outlines, evenly fill larger areas, and balance your overall composition. Tufting is a colorful, hands-on craft that rewards creativity, patience, and attention to detail.

This was such a fun activity, beating expectations and is surprisingly approachable. The 3 hour time is more than enough to create a work of art. Colby was such a patient teacher that radiated great vibes. She's always ready to help. No art experience necessary!!
Amazing rug tufting experience! 10/10 will return
Our instructor Daphne seriously made this whole experience lovely. We came in on a Thursday during the afternoon so it was just me and my boyfriend in the studio, which made it feel really chill and kind of special—we basically had the whole place to ourselves. She was super friendly and easy to talk to, and really helpful! Anytime we got stuck or had a question, she jumped in and explained things in a way that actually made sense, but she also let us figure stuff out and have fun with it. It ended up being such a fun, memorable thing for us, and we’re both kind of obsessed with how our rugs turned out!
