About the studio

AR Workshop Rochester is owned by Kimberly Berlin and Christine Shovein, longtime friends who rediscovered a shared love of DIY and home decor in 2017 and have been teaching Oakland County to make things ever since. Their award-winning holiday sled design is recognised across the AR Workshop franchise.

Every class is instructor-led and beginner-friendly: you choose your design, your colours and your finish, and you leave with the finished piece the same night. Bring your own drinks and snacks - BYOB is always welcome.

The studio hosts private groups too: birthdays, bridal and baby showers, corporate team building and fundraisers.

Meet Kimberly and Christine

Kimberly Berlin and Christine Shovein have run the Rochester studio for years, and they still teach on the floor most weeks. Their room is a boutique DIY workshop on South Rochester Road: long farmhouse tables, a wall of stains and paints, and a retail nook of home decor to pair with whatever you just made.

They are known locally for signs — the ones people hang in a hallway and keep for a decade — and for making a first-timer feel like they knew what they were doing the whole time. Bring a group, or come alone and leave with something you will point at when guests visit.
