This class was so much fun and our teacher Fatih was incredible. We got stuck getting to the class and he was so lovely accommodating us. He made sure we still got individual instructions when we arrived and allowed to us to stay a little extra to finish up. When we struggled to do certain things, he was very encouraging and provided helpful tips. The class was also a nice little immersion into Turkish culture as Fatih was very passionate about his country. He shared facts about mosaics, Turkish music, and Turkish food while we worked. Would recommend for a big group or just 2 people looking for a fun activity.

We had the most fantastic time with Fati! This was such a fun and unique experience made richer by a very knowledgeable, patient, and creative teacher who even did a capstone thesis on the history and art of mosaic lamps and created them himself! And you end up with beautiful lamps to take home. My only wish was more color options, but understandably that wasn’t possible at this time. I recommend this to individuals, couples, families with older children, and really anyone :) You get in and are welcomed by the teacher, either Nusrullah or Fati, who are from Turkey and are well-versed in mosaic lamps. They’ll set you up with their kits that they make themselves and after some instruction, you’re free to design based on your own imagination. There’s water provided and bathroom access. It really does take the two hours, so give yourself time and allow yourself to slow down and enjoy the pace. At the end, your instructor will help you set up your lamp to test it and ensure it works and you’re satisfied, you’ll take pictures, and he’ll help you take down and box up your lamp to take it home (I recommend bringing a large, flat bottomed tote). Then at home, you’ll plaster it according to the instructions and let it dry overnight before giving it a wash to bring out the tile work. All needed items, from plaster to tweezers to tiles to the lightbulb, are included.

My husband and i did a medium size terrarium. The teacher was incredible. He was kind, and knowledgeable. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to take them home. The teacher even gifted us a small terrarium because it was our 10 year anniversary that day. It is an awesome experience and a must have!

We had so much fun as a team in person! Our teacher Nancy was very flexible and informative provided some extra colored tiles for us to play with, some extra tips and design options for us. We were all happy with our designs. Also those Baklavas were top notch! Would recommend anyone who is looking for fun activity with take home souvenir in few hours.

The Terrarium Workshop: Sip and Plant was very nice. Nurullah; the host and instructor; was very nice and equally; if not more; knowledgeable about Wardian case terrariums. On the table in between each work station were about 4 or 5 plants in small pots that we were supposed to select two of for the Wardian jar. (Here is where I found the workshop lacking in that there should have been more of each type of plant to allow more persons to select a particular variety.) Nurullah began with an history and explanation of Wardian terrariums. After the introduction, he went over the contents of the box each participant had. After verification that everyone had everything required for the building of the terrarium; soil, peat moss, activated charcoal, sphagnum moss, scissors, miniture gardening tools, tweezers, burlap and a lap cloth ;he began explaining and having us; the participants; work along with him and his explanation. As we progressed through step he quizzed us on why the materials we were using at that particular time was included/required. We progressed from laying small rocks along the bottom of the Wardian jar and working our way from there. He showed us how to prepare the included soil with the various other ingredients. Aftere preparing the soil; we then instructed on selecting the plants we desired; two plants each participant; then how to plant and when done, we were left to decorate the inside of the jar as we desired. A very fun and productive class that I would recommend to anyone interested in terrariums would enjoy.

My friend and I had so much fun during this class! Halil was a wonderful teacher and very helpful. The room was set up nicely and they included some treats and wine. We really appreciated that it didn’t feel rushed— we were able to stay a little later to perfect our lamps. I highly recommend this class!
