TL;DR
A Turkish mosaic lamp workshop for a corporate team in NYC costs $99–$149 per person in 2026, runs 2 hours, works for groups of 8–40, and includes all materials, an instructor, a private studio and a finished lamp each person takes home. KraftStories runs these at two Manhattan studios (Financial District and Midtown), as a mobile workshop at your office, and as a shipped virtual kit. A typical 12-person booking is $1,200–$1,800 for the activity; bring your own food and drink. Book 2 weeks ahead in most months, 4–6 weeks for December.
What is a mosaic lamp workshop?
Each participant gets a glass lamp globe, a bowl of coloured glass pieces and beads, adhesive and a design guide. Over about 90 minutes they lay out a pattern — geometric, floral, freehand — and fix the pieces to the globe; the last 20 minutes are grouting and assembly onto a brass base with a bulb. Everyone leaves with a working lamp. No experience is needed; the technique is simple enough that the person who "isn't creative" produces something they're proud of, which is the whole point for a team event.
The format comes from the Ottoman mosaic lamps sold in Istanbul's Grand Bazaar. We import the glass and bases from Turkey; the design method is our own, built for groups.

What group sizes does it work for?
- 5–7 people: join a public session or book a semi-private table; private studio hire starts at 8–10.
- 8–20 people: the sweet spot. One instructor, one room, everyone finishes together. This is the median corporate group we host (11 people).
- 20–40 people: two instructors in one studio, or both studios in parallel. Still a single 2-hour block.
- 40–80 people: mobile workshop at your office or venue, run in two waves or with a larger instructor team. Needs 4+ weeks' notice.
- 80+: possible on-site with staging; talk to us about timing. Alternatively split by department across two dates.
How long does it take and when can we book?
Two hours door to door: 10 minutes of welcome and demo, 80–90 minutes of making, 20 minutes of assembly and photos. Teams that want to eat add 30–45 minutes before or after; both studios welcome outside food and drink.
Weekday afternoons (2–5pm) are the easiest to book and have the best attendance. Evenings after 6pm are available but see more no-shows. Lead times from our bookings: about 2 weeks year-round, 3–6 weeks for November–December, and 1 week is often fine in January–March.
What's included — and what isn't
Included: all glass, beads, adhesive and grout; the lamp base, cord and bulb; aprons; an instructor for the whole session; private use of the studio for groups of 10+; design templates; packaging to carry the lamp home; photos if you want them.
Not included: food and drink (bring your own or we can recommend caterers near each studio), gratuity (optional), and shipping if someone wants their lamp sent instead of carried. Mobile workshops add a setup/travel fee that covers transport, setup and cleanup at your office.
Which teams choose this format?
From our bookings, the groups that pick mosaic lamps over our other formats tend to be mixed teams (engineering plus ops plus sales), teams with a wide age range, holiday and year-end events where the lamp doubles as the gift, and client-appreciation events. Teams that want something louder choose rug tufting; teams that want something quicker and calmer choose terrariums. Sales and younger teams who want competition usually go to an escape room first and come to us the following year.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a mosaic lamp workshop cost per person for a corporate group?

Is there a minimum group size?
Private studio hire starts at 8–10 people. Smaller groups can join a public session or book a semi-private table.
Can we bring food and drinks?

Does it work for remote team members?
Yes. Remote colleagues receive a Ship & Make kit and join the same session on Zoom, or we run a separate virtual session for them at $115 per person including shipping.
