What’s in Moss Terrarium Kit?
Your kit will include hand picked moss and all the materials and tools, including dried moss for layering and reviving. Various moss species are included to give different textures and growth patterns. Once set up the terrarium won’t need watering for a long time.
Unique Features of Moss
Moss is a plant that absorbs water from the air because it doesn’t have a root system. Understanding the growth pattern of moss, such as pleurocarpous and acrocarpous moss which grows up into neat, thick little mounds of tightly packed stems, will help you use and care for it in craft projects and living decor. Moss grows in shaded areas in the wild so using indirect sunlight or artificial low lighting like LED or fluorescent lighting will support its growth. Because of this it can grow without being buried in soil, creating the vertical effect in your terrarium. Moss can survive for a long time without water, it can endure hot and dry conditions until it gets rainfall.
Sourcing
All our moss is sustainably sourced and hand picked from the forest floor. Don’t use preserved moss as it may contain dyes and chemicals that can leach and harm living material. Enjoy your mossarium and remember, “terrarium” means “Earth in a container”, “mossarium” means “moss in a container”. Have fun creating your own self sustaining ecosystem!
